Why so many Logo’s & Labels?
Published on August 19, 2005 By JAYdd In WinCustomize Talk
I’ve always thought that the reason you skin your desktop is to make it unique and less like the original OS style, so why is there so many XP, longhorn & Vista or Mac logo’s?
Why make so much of an effort to completely change the way your desktop looks & feels only then to destroy it’s individuality by adding an OS logo?

There are a lot of amazing, original & very creative pieces of work which have been produced by some very talented people but I don’t understand why they feel they need to add an OS logo which in my opinion spoils the work.

Microsoft has plenty of money to be able to advertise their own products!
If you did the work, why don’t you take the credit for it and add your own ‘individual’ logo?

Does anybody out there feel the same way?

For some people it's about emulating an OS they wish they had, for others, it's about having something completely different. I tend to go for different myself, but Windows users have been mimicking Apple's OS, for example, since the beginning of skinning.

say u can't afford to buy a computer with Windows XP (just saying!!)......but u have Windows 2000, that's good... but some people get bored of the same taskbar....so they change the way it looks.

If people like a certain style & wish to mimick or even improve on what they have seen, then thats absolutely fine & I say 10 out of 10 for having a go.

The point I'm trying to make is that if you have done all the hard work & given up your time to produce a piece of work that your proud of, why add somebody else's logo to your work. Why not develope your own logo & add that to your work..

'Apprentice Bash2cool' That's my point exactly.. You got bored with the way your desktop looks so you change it & develope it. It's your wallpaper, logon or skin not Microsofts or AppleMac's.

I've just read over my last post & it sounds really abrupt...... (sorry guys).

I can put a brush to canvas & take to a graphics package, but when it comes to writing... I'm hopeless!!

I'm usually not a fan of OS lookalikes, but I'm liking and using the latest Longhorn Beta 1 skin. It's simply very nice looking. But of course, I won't run it when I get Vista, can't have the OS standard.

Maybe it is a matter of personal choice....
